As of 12 pm today, Michigan representatives have begun to try and finalize its official budget for this year and how it will be split up. This includes, but is not limited to, road repair expenditures, school meal spending, and whether taxes will be deducted from tips.
As of now, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has told schools to continue providing free lunches to students. According to the Bridge Michigan newspaper, Whitmer has promised schools that the bill will continue to provide free school meals for all.
To be exact, the bill has allocated $10,050 per student for the year 2026.
