Weekly, a student-athlete is chosen and highlighted by the Northwest School community. On the 14th of October, senior cross-country member Drew Clingerman was chosen as the highlighted athlete.
Clingerman has been doing cross country since the beginning of his 6th-grade year and has gained a few lessons he can apply to his life.
“The number one thing that benefited my continuance through cross has been setting goals and achieving them. Before every race or practice, as a team, we set individual goals to strive for,” said Clingerman.
One thing that has helped Clingerman throughout his time in cross country has been the support of his team. One of Clingerman’s teammates, Chloe Khon, shared how she, and the rest of their team, cheer him on and encourage him to keep going and reach his goals.
Through running, Clingerman has learned to do hard work and keep endurance which has helped him keep a 4.0 grade point average and excel in cross country.
Winning Athlete of the Week will be an achievement Clingerman will not soon forget.
