Northwest High School (NWHS) has over 3,600 students enrolled in the district. Students are successful in their own way, but one student in particular has shown exceptional dedication to their academics: Senior Jacob Haddad.
Haddad is among the 203 Seniors graduating in the Class of 2025 on Friday, May 16th. He has conquered many obstacles throughout his high school career, such as taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses, joining the National Honor Society (NHS), Renaissance Exchange Council, Link Crew, and Student Council (STUCO). Haddad has acknowledged his drive for excellence through these activities, gaining a sense of accomplishment when helping throughout the school.
“The obvious answer is that it is really good for college, but I also have a passion for it,” said Haddad. “It makes high school a lot of fun to go to, rather not doing anything at all.”
Participating in these activities can strengthen students’ skills in different areas, socially, physically, and mentally. During the four years Haddad has been attending NWHS, he has developed people skills and has noticed a shift in how he interacts with his peers compared to when he first arrived as a Freshman. He found the ability to connect and understand people in certain ways.
Haddad’s advice to upcoming Freshmen who want to follow in his footsteps is to note that it can be scary at times, but always choose to step out of their comfort zones. He empathasized that no matter what, just by helping out, it can benefit them in the future.
“Just put yourself out there, do it all, just really do not be scared to participate at all,” said Haddad.
Due to graduation being around the corner, Haddad’s memorable moment throughout high school was being a part of the Link Crew and becoming a Link Leader. A Link Leader is someone who embodies the Positive Behaviorial Interventions and Supports (PBIS) characteristics of respectful, responsible, kind, and hard-working.
Haddad justifies these characteristics by showing his successes throughout high school. He found enjoyment in showing the Freshmen around, eating lunch with them, and overall connecting with a whole new group of people.
