Senior Gwenyth Terry is a pitch-perfect vocalist at Northwest High School. Transferring to Northwest Kidder Middle School from Western Middle School in her seventh-grade year in search of friends and to find her passion, led her to join extracurricular activities.
Involving herself in many extracurricular activities, including Renaissance Exchange Council, Student Council, Musical, Vocal Dimension, Tri-M, and Link Crew. Her peers’ influence has encouraged her to join extra clubs and activities.
She started getting involved at a young age. At seven, her mom put her into a theater program, making her theatrical debut with The Wizard of Oz.
Senior Natalia Zielinski, a castmate of Terry’s in Northwest’s current production of Mary Poppins, describes Terry as supportive and persevering. Zielinski enjoys time with Terry in the Musical and Vocal Dimension—they are a dynamic duo.

“Gwen works very hard. She shows her efforts through taking voice lessons and practicing outside of school,” said Zielinski.
Terry is success-driven. She puts noticeable effort into her role as senior class Vice President and is responsible for planning activities for the seniors that everyone can participate in. Her goal is to make the class more connected.
Senior President Grace Anspaugh works closely with Terry; without fail, Terry is always there to lend a helping hand.
“Working alongside her as class president and vice president is really easy,” said Anspaugh. “We bounce ideas off each other in class meetings a lot, and when we talk about planning things for the senior class, it’s a conversation that just flows.”
Terry struggles to balance school, work, and extracurriculars. She does not get very many work hours during the musical season due to her busy schedule, but with all this free time, she makes sure to give herself time to de-stress.
“I like to go to the gym. I like to hang out with my friends…singing helps, and music helps,” said Terry.
Her favorite part of being involved is her friends. Terry has deep connections with her peers and finds that missing her friends after high school will be the hardest part of graduating. When talking about them, she could not help but smile.
Terry’s extracurricular activities are a big part of who she is. She has learned to drown out the negative aspects of life and appreciate the things that make her happy. With only a quick three months left until graduation, it is time to soak it all in, and give her friends something to remember.
