February 26 and  27, the boys and girls Varsity bowling teams took the floor at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. Friday morning they competed as teams, then Saturday morning was the individual meet for the bowlers.

With a total score of 1,128 senior Kelsey Thomas took ninth place individually and earned a spot in the state tournament.

“At first when they were naming off the scores [for finals] I thought I wouldn’t make it in,” said Thomas. “They called off my score and me and all the coaches flipped out. Not only am I going to states, but in my opinion I get to go with the best coaches in the high school’s bowling history.”

The state meet (Super Bowl) will take place in Canton, Michigan on March 4, (teams) and March 5, (individuals).

Although the Northwest varsity boys and girls did not make states as a team, Thomas plans to make a mark at states in the name of Northwest.
