Counselors’ information for college preparation

Sydney Bowler, Editor-in-Chief

Guidance counselors are a large help when preparing for the future.

On April 11, the SAT will be held at the school. Guidance counselor, Mrs. Megan Lige, recommends taking Strategies for Success, practice SAT offered by Sylvan or Khan Academy, or taking the PSAT.

The PSAT is offered at the school on October 19, and only has a fee of $15. This exam gives students the potential to earn National Merit Scholarships.

The guidance counselors also help with Dual Enrollment. Dual Enrollment is an opportunity to take college classes and get college credit while still in high school.

Taking Dual Enrollment can save a lot of money. The school will pay for the class if you pass. Classes typically cost anywhere from $650 to $750.

For any other information talk to Mrs. Jody Scott for freshman, Lige for sophomores and juniors, and Mrs. Karyn Blume for seniors.
