At the beginning of the school year, the Northwest community teamed up with the Michigan Center community and started to collect various school supplies to help schools affected by hurricane Harvey.

Teacher Miss Marnie Hade rounded up supplies such as pencils, notebooks, papers, and more to be donated. In the end, 1065 pounds of school supplies were shipped to Rockport, Texas elementary schools, and Beaumont, Texas high schools. These areas were drastically impacted by hurricane Harvey.

Both school districts have reopened their buildings.
